Gun Brewery wanted a new identity for their small batch range. The new system had to be versatile, visually identifiable as a collection and not too far from their core range of great-tasting beers. My approach was to create an identity that focused on colour and symbols. Each beer has its own flavour pallet and the colours reflect the flavours and intensity of those flavours. This allowed each individual beer to stand out in the collection. The collection is tied together by the same modular grid of icons & symbols.
Gun's logo which means 'the man that lives here owns a gun', was pulled from the Hobo Code which is a set of linguistic symbols used by travellers to communicate. Using this set of symbols as a starting point I created more symbols that represent the brewing process and feelings when drinking flavoursome beer. The result is a modern, punchy and clean design that can easily be adapted each time a new beer is released.
